Brenda Elam
Artist – Heath, Texas
Brenda Elam, age 56 from Heath, specializes in realism, impressionism and abstracts predominately using oils. Brenda expands her works to include acrylics and pastels.
Brenda attended art classes during her college career at West Virginia Wesleyan. Inspired later in life by local artist Delores Petty, Brenda began her training in oil painting under Patsy Seward in 2003. She continues to hone her skills attending workshops around the world including following Ms Seward to her new home in Hawaii and will attend portrait painting classes in Washington State in August as well as studying in the South of France next Spring.
A member of the American Society of Marine Artists and the Rockwall Art league, Brenda uses her involvement in sailing on Lake Ray Hubbard as the basis for her seascapes and boating works She accepts commissions but prefers to paint to her passions. “We have a lot of wall space in our home and when friends come shopping and like something, it is usually for sale”. Brenda has donated art for auction to raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation. She also shows her works in local businesses and in galleries in her home state of West Virginia.
